What’s revealed in the new trailer ?
The new trailer for Doom: The Dark Ages reveals that the Slayer is being locked away by a mysterious figure (probably one of three hell priests). This could be part of a larger plot by the leader of the demons teased in the trailer so that he could easily conquer the Argent D’Nur. But of course, the Slayer doesn’t stay locked up for long.
Once freed, he returns to do what he does best—rip and tear through Hell’s armies. The most shocking moment? A glimpse of the Slayer’s helmet, cracked and damaged, leaving fans wondering: what happened to him?

Where does the Story fit in Doom Lore ?
Doom: The Dark Ages is set before the events of Doom 2016 & Doom Eternal. We already know from the previous games that the Slayer got his superpowers from the Dark Lord Davoth with assistance of Seraphim while serving in Night Sentinels. The story will most likely place during the Hell’s invasion of Argent D’Nur and Unholy Crusades.
The mystery of how the Doom Guy ended up in Argent D’Nur may also be explained. Maybe it was one of the Davoth’s plans to get his revenge on Mayker race but it seems quite far fetched for now. We may also be able to see how our beloved Doom Guy turned into a badass Doom Slayer which will definitely be a big turning point in the game.

New Gameplay mechanics inbound !!!
The developers have always pushed Doom’s gameplay to evolve—and they’re doing it again. And we, as fans, are loving it!
While Doom 2016 introduced a variety of new weapons along with classic weapons with new modifications, Doom Eternal really turned it up a notch. The introduction of Flame Belch, Ice grenade, Ballista and even faster movement made the gameplay more enjoyable.

Gameplay Changes
Since the gameplay is heavily based on a medieval theme, it will be a lot different from the Doom Eternal. Unlike Doom Eternal’s fast paced acrobatic gameplay style, Doom: The Dark Ages empathizes a heavier, more grounded combat experience. You will be able to feel the power of like Doom Slayer like a tank, focusing more on strategic engagements.
You’ll also be kicking some demon ass with a giant mech, also known as Altan and a cybernetic dragon named Serrat which will provide more diverse gameplay for the players to enjoy.

New Weapons & Enemies Design
In Doom: The Dark Ages, you will be able to use cool new weapons such as Shield Saw used to defend, parry and attack, Skull Crusher which uses bone fragments to fire at enemies, Rail Spike Gun which shoots spikes and more. Additionally, you can now choose one of three melee weapons – Gauntlet, Mace & Flail. With so many diverse options, players will be to enjoy the game as they wish and master the weapons as per their gameplay.
A variety of new and reimagined enemies will also be introduced with the blend of medieval aesthetics and franchise’s signature demonic designs such as armored hell knights, cacodemons, revenants etc. which hopefully will make the combat more engaging than ever.
Final Thoughts: Hype Level = MAX!
Doom: The Dark Ages isn’t just another sequel—it’s shaping up to be a bold new chapter in the franchise, taking us back to the Slayer’s roots while pushing the gameplay in new directions. The trailers have made every fan excited to enjoy another masterpiece from ID Software once it is released.
The trailer has left us with more mysteries such as who imprisoned the Slayer, what the true role of Demon Leader teased is and what happened to the iconic helmet of Slayer. But one thing’s for sure: when Doom: The Dark Ages drops, we’re all strapping in for one hell of a ride. So, get your Super Shotgun ready, mark May 15th on your calendar, and prepare to face off against the demonic forces in Hell and Argent D’Nur!
